Have you ever paused to ask yourself, "Am I truly living, or am I merely existing?"
Many people use these two words interchangeably, but there is a great difference between them.
To exist is simply to be alive; to wake up, eat, go to school or work, scroll through your phone, sleep, and repeat the same routine day after day without growing or intentionally making a difference.
To live, however, is different. It is to live with purpose. It means making daily decisions that reflect the life God has given you and using your gifts to positively influence those around you. Living is not measured by how busy you are but by the difference your life makes.
Many young people think their impact will only begin when they become a doctor, nurse, engineer, pastor, or hold an important position. But the Bible shows us otherwise.
David was just a teenager taking care of his father's sheep, a responsibility many people would have considered ordinary. Yet in those quiet moments, he wasn't wasting his time. He was developing skills that God would later use greatly. He learned to shepherd sheep, wrote psalms that still inspire millions today, and played the harp so skillfully that it brought relief to troubled hearts. Long before David wore a crown, he was already living purposefully.
The same was true of Joseph. He wasn't wealthy or influential when he began making a difference. Even as a servant in Potiphar's house and later as a prisoner, Joseph remained faithful and used his God-given ability to interpret dreams to serve others. His impact began long before he became second in command in Egypt.
History also gives us inspiring examples. Kathryn Kuhlman was still a young woman when God began using her mightily to touch lives. Their stories remind us that purpose is not determined by age but by obedience and faithfulness.
Today, social media can easily make us believe that our lives only matter when they look like someone else's. We compare our journey with influencers, celebrities, or friends, and before long, we spend our energy trying to become copies instead of discovering who God created us to be. Comparison keeps many people existing instead of truly living.
Living intentionally begins with knowing God personally. When your relationship with your Creator is strong, your life gains direction. Challenges will still come, just as they did for Joseph and Daniel, but those men remained steadfast because they knew God. In His own time, He turned their difficult seasons into beautiful testimonies.
So don't wait until you are older, richer, or more accomplished before deciding to live purposefully. Start where you are. Encourage someone. Develop your gifts. Serve faithfully. Take one intentional step every day toward becoming who God has called you to be.
Good write up, someone coming to this world must lives a life that will please God. Develop your talent to please God and your creator.
